The Theology of Preacher |
Robert M. Price |
AMC adapted the graphic-novel series Preacher into a four-season television broadcast of the same name. Basically, the storyline concerns the battle between good and evil, God and the Reverend Jesse Custer, who is possessed by Genesis an entity born from the mating of an angel and a devil. "Preacher strives to present a consistent portrayal of the biblical/Christian deity and succeeds," according to Robert M. Price. Furthermore, Price considers Preacher to be "the wildest and most hilariously blasphemous performance I have ever seen and thoroughly enjoyed." |
Discovering Community Online |
Frederick Moe |
Rural New Hampshire has few people who identify themselves as Messianic or Noahchide, according to Frederick Moe. And so, as Moe and his wife have turned in that direction, finding a fitting spiritual community has been difficult at best. Moe takes us through his journey in pursuit of others who share his convictions and finds spiritual connection in the most unlikely of places, online. |
A Peek Between the Covers |
Joanne Winetzki |
The First Sisters: Lilith and Eve, by Lady Haight-Ashton, is Joanne Winetzki's pick for this issue. A Sacred Dancer, choreographer, Witch and Pagan, Haight-Ashton explores Lilith and Eve as two sides of the same coin, according to Winetzki. Ashton's intent in writing the book was to highlight the impact the story of Lilith and Eve regardless of whether it is history or myth has made on the human psyche. |
A Pensive Pause A Change of Perspective |
Joanne Winetzki |
Joanne Winetzki shares that in her youth she, as is common to the young, was "immature and overly concerned about 'what people thought of me.'" With the accumulation of life experiences, however, most people realize that "they were not thinking about us at all." Winetzki suggests we become "more open with and empathetic toward one another" and "view differences as opportunities to strengthen and clarify our convictions." |
